About The Author

Literary fiction writer in the military genre. U.S. Army veteran 1992-1996. I have always been interested in creative writing and military history. After serving in the Airborne Infantry I had the experiences and knowledge to write with an authenticity that I hope comes through in my writing.

I am drawn to write about soldiers and their lives because I see it as one of the most unique and interesting examples of the human condition. Military life is so different from how most people live. Insight into that world provides a glimpse of the action and adventure most people never experience. I want all my readers to feel they have been as close to the real thing as possible!

Fantastic modern warfare novel

Outstanding book. Amazing creative work with the fusion of a fictional character and non-fiction real-world places; real-world events; and real-world bad guys. Melton's descriptive style pulls the reader in, and really brings you there.

Good believable action and suspense

This fiction about a Sudanese Christian vowing to join the Al Qaeda in order to avenge his mother's brutal murder does not feel like a fiction; it feels like it could have actually happened. Melton's description of the fighting, the preparation, the emotions, and everything else is very believable and satisfying. Throughout the book, the reader believes in our protagonist, but occasionally he strays off the path, making us worry if things will go badly. I'll let you read the book and find out how it ends up. I loved this book and am very grateful I was chosen to be a library thing early reviewer. It also strikes a chord with me personally, being a former Marine MCI MarBks 8th&I. Semper fi, devil dogs!
